Security Forces Rescue Wife of Cameroun Deputy Prime Minister Abducted by Boko Haram

Security forces in Cameroun have rescued the wife of the country’s Deputy Prime Minister, Amadou Ali, who was abducted by suspected members of the Boko Haram sect, the BBC Hausa service has reported.

The wife of Deputy Prime Minister and her maid were kidnapped in Cameroun’s northern town of Kolofata last Sunday.

The attackers stormed their residence and took the woman away. A military commander in the area said Boko Haram militants engaged Camerounian soldiers in the town for some time.

The deputy Prime Minister had managed to escape the assailants to a neighbouring town, commander Feliz Formekong said.
A local religious leader, named Seini Lamine, was also abducted from the same town in a separate incident.

Lamine, who is called the Lamido, is the mayor of the town.
Cameroun had said it strengthened security at its border in April after Boko Haram  members abducted nearly 300 schoolgirls in Chibok, Borno State Nigeria.

More than 200 of the abducted girls remain in captivity. The attack is the third Boko Haram attack in Cameroun since Friday.

At least four soldiers were killed in the previous attacks.
The report did not provide more details, but it quoted the spokesperson of the government of Cameroun, Tchiroma Bakary, as saying the government was still investigating to know the exact number of persons that died during the attack.

It was also believed that 16 persons were killed.

Cameroonian authorities said extremist sect Boko Haram abducted the wife of the country’s deputy prime minister Sunday. The wife of Deputy Prime Minister Amadou Ali and her maid were kidnapped in Cameroun’s northern town of Kolofata, according to the Information Minister Issa Tchiroma. The attackers reportedly stormed their residence and took the woman away. A military commander in the area said Boko Haram militants engaged Cameroonian soldiers in the town for some time. Ritual Conspiracy: Police Move Suspect To Psychiatrist

Lagos State Police Command has moved the suspected kidnapper of a seven-year- old- child to a psychiatric hospital, in the metropolis.

Lagos State police public relations officer, DSP Ngozi Braide, who confirmed the story on phone, told LEADERSHIP that the suspect, Rosemay Chukwu ,was taken to a psychiatric hospital in Lagos to ascertain her mental state after she claimed that the Pastor of Holy Family , Happy Ministry, Prophet Ernest Nwankwo, sent her to abduct a child for alleged ritual purpose.

Pastor Nwankwo had since debunked her claim, claiming that Chukwu may be deranged.

The pastor who had thousands of members in his church, said he did not know Chukwu ,and had never in his life engaged or discussed such ‘satanic’ issue with anybody.

Chukwu was apprehended by people when he allegedly kidnapped a primary school pupil, Emmanuel Emeka, in Ikorodu area of Lagos.

Braide said the police found it necessary to do that because the pastor, Nwankwo insisted that he did not know the woman because he had so many members in the church.

Braide said since the pastor denied ever having any illegal deal with the suspect, the police want to know whether she is deranged or not.

The police spokesperson said Nwankwo who hails from Nsugbe in Anambra State, has debunked the story doing the rounds that he sent Chukwu, a mother of four to abduct a 7- year- old primary school pupil, Emmanuel Emeka in Ikorodu area of Lagos State for a fee.

Imo Police Uncover 8 Bedroom Kidnappers Den[photos]

The Imo state police command has uncovered an eight bedroom underground kidnappers’ den in Umuchima Village, Okwu Autonomous Community in Ikeduru LGA of the state, used by kidnappers to keep those they kidnapped from various parts of the country. 

In an operation led by the state’s police commissioner, Abdulmajid Ali, men of the state police force in collaboration with some vigilante members, yesterday July 19th stormed the dilapidated & isolated building where they made the discovery. 

Speaking with newsmen after the operation, the state Police commissioner said they were able to rescue two people from the den. He said the building will be demolished. He warned criminals to stay away from Imo state as the state Police command are working to rid the state of criminals.

Some residents of the village said they know that the house is owned by a man who though dead now, was greatly feared as he was a very mysterious person. They said they know he had an underground but did not know it was used to harbor kidnapped victims. 

BREAKING: Gunmen abduct German in Adamawa

Gunmen riding on motorcycles, Wednesday morning, abducted a German in Gombi town of Adamawa State.

The incident occurred at about 7 a.m. at Anguwan Faransa area of the town, residents told PREMIUM TIMES.

The man, who is said to be the principal of a technical skill acquisition centre in the town, was abducted on his way to work.

A resident of the town, who asked not to be named for security reasons, informed PREMIUM TIMES that the man, whose name he gave as Mr. Nachi, is a very popular figure in the town.

“The abductors laid siege on his house, and they came on motorcycles. As soon as the man came out and was about to get into his car, two persons on foot approached him and pointed a gun at him. They now called the two other sets of people on motorcycles who approached them and they carried him away on their motorcycle,” the witness said.

“Almost everybody in this town knows him because he helps us a lot, especially in the area of repairing the town’s water bore holes. Most of the time he uses his own money to buy equipment and repair our boreholes,” he added.

He also said Mr. Nachi trains students on technical and vocational skills free of charge.

The German Embassy in Abuja when contacted over the telephone said it was not yet aware of the incident.

“The press officer is not yet in, but at this end we are not aware of something like that,” an official of the embassy told PREMIUM TIMES on phone.

The embassy also promised to get back with information as soon as it is available.

The spokesperson of the police in Adamawa State, Othman Abubakar, who said he was in a meeting and could only communicate via text messages, is yet to respond to an inquiry at the time of this report.

Adamawa is one of three states under emergency rule due to the activities of the Boko Haram insurgents.

The Lagos state Police Command today July 10th presented 9 year old Blessing (pictured above) who they rescued from being sold by a three female child trafficking syndicate in Lagos.

The Department of State Security today July 10th paraded 6 men who allegedly kidnapped the 70year old uncle of President Jonathan, Nitabai Inengite, in Bayelsa state on Feb 23rd.

The names of the six men paraded are; Eldred Magnus Johnah, Raphael Inengesi Abobo, Ibeabuchi Inya, Oreva Abridi, Tammy Tamarapreye Agbai and Felix Onuoha, a native doctor.

Lawmaker kidnapped in Port Harcourt

The lawmaker representing Etche II Constituency in Rivers State  House of Assembly, Golden Chioma, has been abducted in Port Harcourt. He was said to have been abducted at about 8 a.m. on Monday at Emenike Street in Diobu area of the Rivers State capital by gunmen.
His abduction occurred exactly a year after the July 9, 2013 fracas at the hallowed chamber of the House of Assembly, which led to the closure of the complex.
Chioma, who is the chairman of the House Committee on Judiciary, is among the 27 lawmakers loyal to Governor Chibuike Amaechi.
He and his colleagues had been a pillar of support for the governor, especially since July 9, 2013 that five anti-Amaechi legislators, led by Evans Bipi, representing Ogu/Bolo Constituency, attempted to impeach the Sspeaker and die-hard Amaechi supporter, Otelemaba Dan Amachree.
The kidnapped lawmaker was also the sponsor of the recently passed controversial  Rivers State High Court (Amendment) Law, 2014, which empowered the Chief Registrar to assign cases in the absence of an Acting or a Chief Judge. The law was passed because of the crisis rocking the state judiciary, following a disagreement between the state government and the National Judicial Council (NJC), over the appointment of the state chief judge.
The whereabouts of the lawmaker were still unknown at the time of filing the report and there was also no indication that his family had been contacted for payment of ransom.
Also, at the time of filing this report, the leadership of the House of Assembly was yet to officially comment on the incident.
But a House of Assembly source told journalists, who were earlier invited to witness yesterday’s sitting, that the House had been adjourned sine die, as the lawmakers were not in the mood to sit because of the incident.
The police had also confirmed the kidnap of the lawmaker. When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer, Ahmad Muhammad, a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), said the police had strategised with a view to rescuing the lawmaker and apprehending the bandits.
“He is actually kidnapped and all efforts are mobilised to safely rescue him. The only update is that the command has spread its tentacles with a view to rescuing the lawmaker,” he said.
Meanwhile, the Rivers State Commissioner for Information and Communications, Mrs. Ibim Semenitari, has condemned the kidnap of the lawmaker. In her reaction, the commissioner  described the abduction as very sad and unfortunate turn of events. She appealed to the security agents to secure his release.

Abia Police Discover Kidnapping Training Camp

The Nigerian Police, Abia State Command, in its continuous effort to curb crime and rid the state of criminals, has arrested some suspects involved in armed robbery, kidnapping, child trafficking among many others.




Commissioner of Police, Adamu Ibrahim, while addressing newsmen during the parade of the suspects, said that the proactive measures of the officers of the command through tip off by the public have assisted them in nabbing the criminals.
He said that the command had resolved to do everything necessary to ensure that kidnapping was totally eradicated in the state and this determination has led to the discovery of the kidnapping training camp where the suspected kidnappers were arrested and are undergoing interrogations.
Items recovered from them include AK 47 Rifle ,two empty magazines, stolen motorcycle, an axe, polyethene bag containing Indian hemp and some stolen motor spare parts.
For the commissioner of Police, the surveillance by officers at the command and cooperation of the public has brought a tremendous success whereby the Police prevented the crime before time, although one of the suspects claimed that he was conned into it.
Authorities have restated that as the Police are doing their bid to curb crime and sustain security, the public also should be willing to offer relevant information on time and not after the crime has already taken place because security is every body’s business.
